Youth killed, 2 injured in clash with opponents in Brahmanbaria
A youth named Shipon Mia (28) was killed in a clash with opponents over a previous dispute in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria. Two others were seriously injured in the incident. The incident took place on Saturday (November 1) evening in Nurjahanpur village of Thollakandi area of Barikandi union of the upazila. The deceased Shipon Mia is the son of Manek Mia of the same village. The injured are Rakib Hossain (26) and Sohel Mia (30).
It is learned that Rifat Bahini of Thollakandi village had been in a dispute with Shipon, son of Manek Mia of Nurjahanpur village, over various issues for a long time. In the evening, when Barikandi went to eat at a hotel near Gani Shah Mazar, Rifat opened fire. At that time, Shipon and three others, including the hotel employee, were shot. Later, locals rescued them and sent them to Dhaka for better treatment. Shipon died while undergoing treatment there. Tension spread across the area after the incident. Additional police were deployed to bring the situation under control.
Eyewitness Shah Alam Mia said that there was an argument between the two parties in the morning. In the evening, gunshots were suddenly heard. Within a short time, three people fell to the ground. After that, panic spread throughout the area.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nabinagar Police Station Md. Shahinur Islam told us that police were quickly sent to the scene after receiving the news of the gunshots. We are at the scene. The situation in the area is currently normal. Initially, it is believed that this happened due to dominance.
