Youth hacked to death in Kabirhat

A youth named Anwar Hossain Sabbir (22) was hacked to death in a trivial incident in Kabirhat, Noakhali. It is learned that the police immediately arrested two people in this incident. Kabirhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shahin Mia confirmed the matter on Thursday (November 27) morning.
Earlier, the incident took place at around 7:30 pm last Wednesday at the Pan Bepari house of Char Guliahali village in Dhanshalik Union of the upazila. Later, the victim died at around 2 am today while being taken to Dhaka in serious condition.
The deceased Anwar Hossain Sabbir (22) is the son of Md. Liton of Taju Driver house of Rameshwarpur village in ward number 8 of Chaprashirhat Union of the upazila. The arrested are Abdur Sobhan Shamim (30) and his wife Farhana Akhter (23) of Pan Bepari house of Dhanshalik Union of the upazila.
The deceased’s friend Anwar Hossain Shakil said, “Due to a family dispute, 4-5 days ago, my aunt Monowara Begum’s brother-in-law Shamim secretly cut down the land of her paan bepari house in Char Guliakhali village. When he informed the local dignitaries about the matter, they advised him to catch the miscreant red-handed. Yesterday afternoon, he saw his brother-in-law Shamim cutting chilli seedlings. When he immediately questioned him, his brother-in-law started beating my aunt.
He said, “After receiving the news, in the evening, I went to my aunt’s house with my friend Sabbir and sent him to the hospital. Then, on the way to my aunt’s house after locking it, Shamim came forward to talk to us. At one point, he said, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, there was a commotion, he did nothing.’ Then, when he got angry and asked why we had come, Shamim hit Sabbir on the head with a country-made weapon in his hand, which seriously injured him.”
He further said that later the local people took him to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty saw that his condition was critical and sent him to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital after primary treatment. From there, Sabbir died on the way to Dhaka for better treatment at around 2 am yesterday. Kabirhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shahin Mia said that the young man was seriously injured after being hacked to the head due to a family dispute. He later died on the way to Dhaka. The police are on a drive.
