Youth dies after being electrocuted while stealing from bank

A youth named Mohammad Jihad (19) has reportedly died after being electrocuted while stealing an AC compressor from a private bank in Lohagara, Chittagong.
Police recovered his body hanging from the AC’s electrical wire on the third floor of the Bank Asia building in Amirabad Union of Lohagara Upazila of Chittagong on Sunday (September 21) morning.
The deceased Jihad is the son of Shafiq Islam of Kasharikhola village in Gunaighar Union of Debidwar Upazila of Comilla district. He was a scrap dealer by profession and lived in a rented house with his elder brother in Lohagara.
Locals found his body hanging from the AC’s electrical wire on the third floor of the Bank Asia building in Amirabad Union of the upazila and informed the police this Sunday morning.
Locals believe that he died after being electrocuted while stealing the AC compressor of the Bank Asia building.
Confirming the matter, Lohagara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Rabiul Alam Khan said, “Upon receiving the news, we went to the spot and recovered his body hanging from the AC’s electric wire. Initially, it is believed that he came to steal the AC compressor. Later, he died due to electrocution.” He added, “The incident is being investigated and legal action will be taken.”
