Youth beaten to death on suspicion of theft in Bandar
A construction worker named Parvez (30) was beaten to death on suspicion of theft in Bandar, Narayanganj. Police recovered his body from the house of Mesbah Uddin in the Sonachhara area of the upazila early on Monday (November 24).
The deceased Parvez is the son of the deceased Tara Mia of the Burma Stand area of Siddhirganj. He lived as a tenant in the house of Bulbul Misha in the Dhakeshwari area of Bandar. The deceased’s wife Khadija Begum said, “Parvez is not a thief. He is a construction worker. He was caught at night on the pretext of stealing an electric wire and beaten to death.” At that time, she demanded a fair trial for her husband’s murder.
Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station (Bandar) Liaqat Ali told us that on Sunday night, Mesbah Uddin caught Parvez and beat him along with his two sons on the charge of theft. In the morning, Parvez died of his injuries and they fled. Upon receiving the information, the police recovered the body from Mesbah Uddin’s house. The OC said that the body has been recovered and sent to the Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal action is being taken against those involved in the incident.
