Youth arrested for posting ‘Alhamdulillah’ on Facebook over Hadi’s death

A youth named Yasin Bhuiyan (34) has been arrested for posting ‘Alhamdulillah’ on Facebook over the death of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Osman Hadi in Kasba, Brahmanbaria. He was arrested from his own house on Friday (December 19) afternoon and handed over to the police by the public. It is learned that the arrested Yasin is an Awami League worker. He is the son of Babru Mia of Maijkhar village in Kuti union of the upazila.
It is learned that Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, who was shot, was taken to Singapore for better treatment. He breathed his last on Thursday (December 18) night while undergoing treatment there. When the news of his death spread on social media, a shadow of grief fell across the country. Hearing the news of Osman Hadi’s death, his family, Inqilab Manch supporters, friends, relatives and the people of the country were stunned by grief. Yasin Bhuiyan of Maijkhar village in Kuti union of Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district wrote ‘Alhamdulillah’ on his Facebook ID after hearing the news of Hadi’s death. Osman Hadi was also commented as a ‘terrorist’.
Local people got excited over Yasin Bhuiyan’s status. Yesterday (December 19) afternoon, he was arrested and reported to Kasba police station, after which the police went to the spot. Local people handed him over to Kasba police station. Later, to calm the situation, the police detained him and brought him to the police station. Kasba police station officer-in-charge (OC) Nazneen Sultana confirmed the incident and said that locals detained a person and reported him to the police station on charges of making provocative statuses and comments about Osman Hadi’s death on social media. Later, the police went to the spot, arrested him and brought him to the police station. She said that legal action is being taken against him in this incident.
