Young man’s body hanging from a tree, locals make mysterious claims
A young man named Md. Akkas Mia (22) has died mysteriously in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar. His body was recovered hanging from a tree on a sheet on the bank of the Dhalai river near his house on Monday (December 8) morning. The deceased Akkas Mia is the eldest son of Md. Absa Mia of Rampasha village of the upazila. According to family sources, Akkas’ younger brother Hasan was looking for him in the morning and found his used bicycle on the bank of the river. Later, while searching the surroundings, he found Akkas’ body hanging from a tree. His two feet were stuck in the ground, which has raised suspicions among the locals.
It is learned that the deceased Akkas used to work as a painter. Before going home from Bhanugachh Bazar at 9 pm yesterday, Sunday, he took 50 taka from his father. At 10 pm, his elder uncle Md. Naushad Mia found him near Safat Ali Senior Madrasa. After that, when the family members tried to contact him on his mobile phone, his phone was found switched off.
When the matter came to light, the neighbor Md. Shawkat called 999 in the morning. Later, the police came and prepared the autopsy report and took the body to the police station. The process of sending the body to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy is underway. The mother of the deceased, Fatai Begum, alleged that her son Akkas had a relationship with a girl from Adampur area. She also said that the girl’s picture and ID card were found on his mobile phone.
The incident has spread sensation in the area. The police are investigating whether Akkas committed suicide or it was a planned murder. In this regard, the police said that after receiving a call on 999, they went to the spot, recorded the autopsy report of the hanging body and sent it to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
