Young man killed in truck runover while trying to catch cow thief

A young man named Sagar Molla (24) was killed in a truck runover by a thief in Ujirpur, Barisal. Two others were injured in the incident. The incident took place on Tuesday (October 7) at 2:30 am on the road in front of Bepari Bari in the upazila’s Notun Shikarpur area.
The deceased Sagar Molla is the son of Mohammad Jahangir Molla of Sakral village in Ujirpur.
Locals said that the thieves tried to escape in a truck after stealing cows and calves from Anis Hawlader of Sakral village. On learning about the matter, the villagers stopped the thieves on the highway. At that time, the truck driver drove at high speed and ran over three people including Sagar Molla.
Sagar Molla was killed on the spot and Naeem Hawlader and Kausar Hawlader were seriously injured. They were rescued and admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal. The police have sent Sagar Molla’s body to the morgue for autopsy. Confirming the matter, Uzirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdus Salam said, “Legal action is in the process of being taken in this incident. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused.”
