World Health Organization provides medical supplies to Bangladesh for dengue management
Due to continuous rains, the Aedes mosquito infestation is increasing in the capital. The pressure of dengue patients is also increasing in hospitals. The number of infected people has already exceeded 13,000 this season. And the death toll is more than fifty. In such a situation, the World Health Organization (WHO) provided medical supplies to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for dengue management. On Wednesday (July 9), the organization handed over 8 portable ultrasonogram machines, 21 bedside hematocrit machines and 1,600 pieces of other equipment in the conference room of the department. After the meeting, Director General (DGHS) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr. Md. Abu Zafar said that the change in the type of dengue requires special care for patients. Now, complex symptoms are more common among patients. As a result, in many cases, patients have to be kept under close observation. In that case, these equipment will play a very important role. Although dengue outbreak occurred in Barguna this season, the DGHS claimed that it is now under control. He said, we have all kinds of preparations. However, raising public awareness is now most important. WHO representatives said that cooperation with the Bangladesh government will continue to combat dengue.
