Workers pension scheme will be launched
Labor and Employment Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said that initiatives will be taken to launch a pension scheme to ensure social security of workers, all professions have social security. We have a dream to bring our workers under the pension scheme too, so that no one goes back empty handed after retirement.
He said these things while inaugurating the distribution program of TCB food products to industrial workers at the price set by the government at the factory of Tongir Jaber Fabrics Limited in Gazipur on Wednesday.
The advisor also said that there have been various conspiracies regarding the garment sector of our country. Outsiders in labor zones also conspired to center workers’ protests. Despite so many loots in the past, the country’s economy is still surviving due to the tireless work of our workers. 83 percent of the country’s export earnings still come from the garment sector.
This government is working to ensure the social security of the workers. Their 18-point demands have already been accepted and implementation has started. TCB’s food assistance for workers has started, soon the program will be spread to all industrial areas of the country. Under this program of TCB, workers are being given 5 kg of rice, 2 kg of dal and 2 kg of oil for Tk 470.
TCB Chairman Brigadier General Mostafa Iqbal, BGMEA President Khandaker Rafiqul Islam and others spoke as special guests on the occasion.
