Worker dies after falling from tree

A worker named Rafiq Patwari (55) died after falling from a tree while cutting a tree in Rampur Union of Chandpur Sadar Upazila. The accident occurred around 11 am today (March 31) when he was cutting a tree belonging to Selim of Bepari Bari in the area adjacent to Chhota Sundar and Islampur Bridges of the union.
The deceased Rafiq is the son of the late Farid Uddin Patwari of Patwari (Haidar Bari) Bari of North-West Chhota Sundar village. He is the father of four children and is a daily wage laborer by profession. Former chairman of the union, Al Mamun Patwari, confirmed his death.
Local grocer Mizanur Rahman said that Rafiq used to work in agriculture. He used to cut trees occasionally. That day, he went to Selim Bepari’s house to cut trees as a laborer. While cutting trees, he suddenly fell from the tree and was seriously injured. After being rescued, he died on the way to the hospital. Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station OC Faiz Ahmed said, “I am aware of the matter. No complaint has been filed by the family. The deceased’s relatives have taken his body home from the hospital.”
