Woman worker dies after hand severed at oil mill in Kishoreganj

A woman worker named Sathi Debnath (35) was killed after her hand was severed while working at an oil mill in Pakundia, Kishoreganj. The accident occurred at Porabaria Jamtala Bazar in the upazila on Monday (August 25) afternoon. The deceased Sathi Debnath is the wife of the late Balram Debnath of Narandi village in the upazila. He had been working as an operator at the Jisan Oil Mill located in Porabaria Jamtala Bazar for the past two years. According to police and local sources, the woman was working at the Jisan Oil Mill located in Porabaria Jamtala Bazar in the upazila. At one point while working on Monday afternoon, her left hand got inside the machine while she was wrapped in a veil. She was rescued and taken to the Pakundia Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared her dead. Pakundia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Sakhawat Hossain said that police were sent to the spot after receiving information. Further legal action will be taken based on the complaint.
