Woman falls into drain, dies, father takes twin boys to toy shop to forget mother
‘You know, dad, our momma has gone to a dreamland. Momma used to tell stories while she was sleeping, but if she goes there, she can’t come back. Why did momma leave our two brothers and go to a beautiful country alone? Will you leave us too, dad?’ Their father, Mizanur Rahman, cannot answer these questions in the face of his son Aryan, who has just lost his mother. He pulls the twin boys into his arms and says, ‘I won’t leave you anywhere, dad, I won’t let you go anywhere.’ Mizanur Rahman said these things at a toy shop in the Boro Bazar area of Chuadanga town on Wednesday afternoon. He also said that the two boys have been asking such questions since their mother’s death. He has come to the toy shop with the boys to forget their mother. They also go out for a walk occasionally. But the two eight-year-old children can’t forget their mother in any way. Their mother, Faria Tasnim, went missing after falling into a drain next to the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the Hossain Market area of Tongir, Gazipur on Sunday. Three days later, Faria’s body was recovered from the Shalikchhara beel in Gazipur on Tuesday. Some locals in Tongir alleged that the irresponsibility of the City Corporation and the BRT project authorities was responsible for the accident. They said that people were pushed to their deaths by leaving open drains in such a busy area. Faria Tasnim is the daughter of Munshi Oliullah Ahmed, a resident of Baganpara in Chuadanga city. She was married to businessman Mizanur Rahman, a resident of Bazarpara in the city. However, after their separation, Faria started living and working in Dhaka since 2020. She was last working as a country sales manager (CSM) of a pharmaceutical marketing company. Faria’s family said that Faria lived with her two children in Kazipara in Mirpur, the capital. Aryan and Ayan are third-grade students of BAF Shaheen College. Mizanur claims that he failed to bring Faria back home several times with his brothers. At one point, Faria sent him a divorce certificate in 2020. Then a dowry case was filed in the court. Mizanur was in jail in that case. On the other hand, he approached the court with a claim for guardianship of the child. After hearing both sides in the case, the verdict is currently in the stage of hearing. However, the two children are currently with their father Mizanur. Last Tuesday night, after burying Faria’s body at the Puratanpara graveyard in Chuadanga city, Jewel took Aryan and Ayan to his house with the consent of the family. Together, the two of them handed over a large list of toys to their father. Mizanur went out with the two children to buy them. This reporter asked the two children what they wanted to be when they grew up. In response, Ayan said that he would complete his studies and serve the people as a doctor. On the other hand, Aryan wants to become an army officer. When asked why, Aryan said that he wants to work for the protection of the country and its people. Then he was asked what security was. He replied, “Security, the security of the countrymen.”
