Woman dies after being hit by truck in Chittagong

A woman named Nasima Begum (45) died after being hit by a truck in the city’s Oxygen area. The accident occurred at the Public School Gate under Bayezid Police Station on Monday (September 15) morning. The deceased Nasima Begum is the wife of Jahangir Alam of Noazishpur Union in Raozan Upazila. Locals said that Nasima was riding a motorcycle with her husband. She fell on the road after being hit by an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction in the Oxygen Public School Gate area. At one point, she was crushed under a truck coming from behind. She died on the spot. Locals arrested the truck driver Ripon and handed him over to the police. Bayezid Bostami Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kamruzzaman told us, “On receiving the news, we recovered the body of the deceased from the spot. Later, it was sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue. A case is under process against the driver in this incident.”
