Woman dies after being hit by truck
A woman named Pata Rani (26) died in a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a truck in Jaldhaka, Nilphamari. Two others were injured during the incident. The accident occurred at 6 am today, Wednesday (January 21) at Dundibari Chowkidar intersection in the municipal area. The deceased Pata Rani is the wife of Nipendra Nath of Bhogamaari area of Kanthali union of the upazila.
Witnesses and police said that when she was returning to work from her home by auto-rickshaw, she came to Dundibari Chowkidar intersection as usual and collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction. At that time, Pata Rani fell from the auto-rickshaw on the road and died on the spot after being crushed by the wheels of the truck. Her colleague Diti Rani and van driver Bakram Roy were seriously injured in the incident.
Jaldhaka Police Station OC Nazmul Alam said that a woman died in the accident this morning. Two others were injured during this time. The injured have been sent to Rangpur Medical College for advanced treatment.
