Will the name of the Indian capital Delhi be changed? Letter to Amit Shah

BJP MP from Chandnichak, Delhi, Praveen Khandelwal has demanded that the name of the Indian capital Delhi be changed to ‘Indraprastha’. He said that Delhi is not only a modern city but also the soul of Indian civilization.
Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ujjain, Ayodhya still retain their ‘ancient identity’. Delhi should also be brought back to that form. This naming will reflect the ancient heritage and roots of civilization of the city. He made this call in a letter written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday (October 1). According to NDTV, Anandabazar Patrika.
In his letter, Khandelwal also proposed to rename the Old Delhi Railway Station as Indraprastha Junction and the International Airport as Indraprastha Airport. The letter has been sent not only to Amit Shah, but also to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other ministers. He wrote that Delhi’s history is thousands of years old. It carries the soul of Indian civilization and the vibrant heritage of the city of ‘Indraprastha’.
According to Khandelwal, a huge statue of Pandavas should also be installed in the capital. He said that installing the statue of Pandavas on the holy land of Indraprastha will revive India’s history, culture and faith in a new way. It will remind the new generation of the glorious heritage of India as a symbol of the principles, justice and courage of the Pandavas.
The BJP MP wrote that this change is not only historical justice but also an important step in cultural renaissance. It will restore our history and show respect for culture. He questioned that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ancient cities like Ayodhya, Kashi, Prayagraj are being revived, but why not Delhi?
He also said that changing the name of Delhi will send a message to future generations that the capital of India is not just a centre of power, but a symbol of religion, ethics and nationalism. Last month, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad also wrote a letter to Delhi Culture Minister Kapil Mishra making the same request. Now, the BJP MP from Delhi has written a letter to Amit Shah.
