What was the conversation between Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and NCP leaders?
A delegation of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) met with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who is visiting Dhaka. The meeting was held at the Pakistan High Commission in the capital on Saturday (August 23) afternoon. NCP member secretary Akhtar Hossain led the meeting. The party’s chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari spoke to reporters after the meeting. He said that the issue of potential crises and risks of war centered on water in South Asia has come up with great importance. Bangladesh’s experience as a riverine country and Pakistan’s past experience were exchanged. Nasiruddin said that Pakistan has been trying to progress in the pharmaceutical sector for the last 15-20 years. Since the production cost of Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical sector is relatively low, there is great potential between the two countries in this sector. However, it has not been implemented so far. In addition, cultural exchange, university-level exchange programs and cooperation in the defense sector were also discussed. The NCP member secretary said that after the mass uprising, a new reality has emerged in Bangladesh’s foreign policy. In that context, discussions were held with the Pakistani Foreign Minister. He also said that SAARC is currently in a dormant state because of India. The meeting also discussed how SAARC can be reactivated and how it is possible to bring prosperity to the regional economy. Nasiruddin believes that since Pakistan is a nuclear-armed state, they have influence in South Asia. By utilizing this influence, there can be a possibility of increasing regional cooperation.
