    What the doctor said about Tamim’s illness

    Tamim Iqbal has suffered a heart attack. He was taken to the local Fazilatunnesa Hospital in BKSP, Savar, on Monday after falling ill while playing in a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match.

    Tamim was playing for Mohammedan against Shinepukur at BKSP ground number 3. He also participated in the toss as captain.

    Regarding Tamim’s illness, BCB’s head of medical department Debashish Chowdhury said from hospital sources that Tamim had a heart attack. He is currently undergoing treatment in the cardiac department.

    Meanwhile, match referee Debabrata Pal, who is in the hospital, said that Tamim has undergone an angiogram. A block has been found in his heart. His condition is improving somewhat.

    Earlier, Mohammedan’s manager Tariqul Islam told a daily that it was decided to take Tamim to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. But as his condition has not improved enough to be airlifted, he is being treated at Fazilatunnesa Hospital.

    Tamim suddenly felt chest pain on the field and was given first aid at BKSP. However, as his condition did not improve, he was taken to Fazilatunnesa Hospital in Savar next to BKSP. He is currently admitted there.

    The BCB board meeting has been postponed due to news of Tamim’s illness. The meeting was scheduled to begin at 12 noon. BCB directors and officials are going to the hospital to see Tamim.
