What ISPR said about the joint forces operation in Mohammadpur
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has issued a press release informing about the killing of two terrorists and the arrest of five terrorists in a joint operation in Chand Udyan, Mohammadpur, in the capital.
The press release signed by ISPR Assistant Director Rashedul Alam Khan was sent to the media on Thursday.
It said that a joint force team conducted an operation at around 12:30 am on Wednesday based on information that a robbery was being prepared in the Chand Udyan area of Mohammadpur, the capital. During the operation, when the joint force members surrounded both sides of a lane, the terrorists opened fire on the operation team from the roof of a one-story building. The operation team immediately took countermeasures in self-defense and was able to arrest five terrorists along with weapons.
Later, a search was conducted in the house and the bodies of two were recovered from the roof. A pistol, four rounds of bullets and a machete were recovered from the detainees.
The detainees have been handed over to Mohammadpur Police Station for legal action. The ISPR also said in the release that such operations will continue to protect the safety of people’s lives and property.
Meanwhile, the identities of the detainees and the deceased have been revealed by law enforcement sources. The deceased are – Miraj Hossain (25), son of Shahjahan Ali, of Nurabad village, Char Fashion upazila, Bhola district. He was a tenant in Sandami’s house on Road No. 8 in Chand Udyan area, Mohammadpur.
The other is – Md. Jummon (26), son of Abdul Sattar, of Deshbhui village, Gosair Hat, Shariatpur district. He is a tenant in Huzur’s house on Road No. 5 in Chand Udyan area. Their bodies have been sent to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
The arrested – Md., son of Abdur Rob, of Nilkamal area of Dularhat police station, Bhola district. Hossain (23), Miraj (25), Mominul (20), Mehedi (17) of Lalmohan upazila of the same district and Md. Al Amin (24), son of Md. Rahim of Selimpur village of Muladi upazila of Barisal. They all live in rented houses in Chand Udyan and Keraniganj areas.
The arrested are in the custody of Mohammadpur police station. Police said that legal action is being taken against them.
