What did Tarique Rahman say about India?

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman said that if India imposes tyranny there and creates discontent among the people of Bangladesh, then we have nothing to do. He said, ‘The people of Bangladesh have decided that relations with them will remain cold. So I have to stay with the people of my country.’
He said these words in an interview given to BBC Bangla about Sheikh Hasina’s asylum in India and relations with the country. The second part of the interview was published on BBC Bangla’s verified Facebook page today, Tuesday (October 7).
In response to a question about what the BNP’s policy will be on relations with India, Tarique Rahman said, ‘That country or any other country is not the issue here. The issue is that Bangladesh is my interest for me, I will first look at the interests of the people of my country, I will look at the interests of my country. I will uphold it and do whatever I can.’
He said, ‘Of course I want my share of water, I definitely do not want to see another criminal hanged. Of course we will not accept this.’
In response to a question about Bangladesh’s interests, such as seeking water share and border killings, the BNP acting chairman said, ‘No, no, I have given examples. I have given you two examples to explain what our position will be.’
Tareq Rahman said, ‘We want our share of water, that is, I want our country’s share, I want the share of the people of the country, I want what is fair. Of course, through the Felani killings, I wanted to convey that if the people of my country are attacked, then I will definitely not accept this attack.’
