Wedding bus falls into pond in Rangpur, 3 killed, at least 20 injured

Three people were killed and at least 20 injured when a wedding bus lost control and fell into a pond in Pirgachha, Rangpur. The accident occurred in the Beltoli area of ​​the upazila on Wednesday (July 9) night. Two of the deceased have been identified. They are Amrit Bala and Santa Rani. Their homes are in the Nodir Hat area of ​​Rangpur metropolis. They all died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Pirgachha Fire Service In-charge Al Amin said that a bus carrying pilgrims on its way back to Shyampur Hat in Rangpur Sadar Upazila after eating boubhat from Belka in Sundarganj, Gaibandha, lost control in the Beltoli area of ​​the Gaibandha-Sunderganj highway. At that time, the bus fell into a pond nearby. Pirgachha Police Station OC Noor Alam Siddiqui said that with the help of locals, the police and fire service rescued the injured and sent them to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Three people, including the driver, died while undergoing treatment there on Thursday morning. Among them, two people named Amrit Bala and Shanta Rani have been identified. The OC also said that the accident-hit embankment is being recovered and taken to the police station. Sources from the hospital’s emergency department said that 32 people have been admitted to the hospital so far in the incident. 12 of them are children. Many have left after receiving treatment.
