‘We must repay the blood debt of the martyrs by building a non-discriminatory state’
Masud Sayedee, Jamaat-e-Islami MP candidate for Pirojpur-1 constituency, said, ‘Even after 54 years of independence, we have not been able to build the desired non-discriminatory and exploitation-free Bangladesh.’ He said this at a rally organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Pirojpur district branch on the occasion of the great Victory Day on Tuesday (December 16). The rally started from the city’s CO office, circled various roads and ended with a victory rally at the Town Club and was held under the chairmanship of District Jamaat Ameer Principal Tafazzal Hossain Farid.
At the same time, he said, ‘The dream with which the great liberation war was waged in 1971, the anti-dictatorship movement was waged through a mass uprising in 1990 and another mass uprising was successful with the fall of the dictator Sheikh Hasina on August 5. But that dream has not been realized even today.’ He further said, ‘Those who shed blood and sacrificed their lives in every movement and uprising had only one demand: that the Bengali nation stand tall on the face of the earth. They will establish Bangladesh as a dignified, just and exploitation-free nation.’ Masud Sayedee said, ‘If we want to repay the blood debt of the martyrs of the great liberation war of 1971, then we have to build a discrimination-free, corruption-free Bangladesh. But the sad reality is that those who only spoke about the spirit of independence did not carry that spirit in their hearts. Many of them have become corrupt, looters, robbers and terrorists.’ The Jamaat leader said, ‘Jamaat Islami does not only talk about independence with their mouths, they carry it in their hearts. If we can all unite today, then it is possible to build a happy, prosperous and discrimination-free real Bangladesh. The fighters of the liberation war and the July fighters are the children of the sun of this country. If we cannot ensure their proper respect and security, then no new fighters will be created in the future.’ Masud Sayedee further said, ‘The attack on Hadi is not an attack on any person. It is a direct attack on the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. We all have to stand united against this. We hold the spirit of independence not only in words but also in our hearts. True patriotism means honesty, justice and accountability. There is no case of corruption, extortion or tender rigging against any leader or worker of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam in any police station in the country. This proves what the true spirit of independence is and what true patriotism is.’ District Jamaat Secretary Principal Zahirul Haque, Assistant Secretary Maulana Sheikh Abdur Razzak, Municipal Ameer Md. Ishaq Ali Khan, District President of Chhatra Shibir Md. Imran Khan and leaders from different levels spoke at the event.
