“We have lost everything, but we will not leave Gaza” – Palestinians in a firm position

The Israeli military (IDF) has announced the forcible evacuation of Palestinians from areas designated as war zones to southern Gaza. However, many Palestinians are refusing to leave Gaza. They say, ‘There is nothing left to lose’. The Palestinians are tired of the cycle of violence that has continued for almost two years. Over the past two years, they have lost their homes, lost everything—even their loved ones—as they have been displaced one after another. There is no safe haven anywhere in the entire Gaza Strip. The question is, where will the Palestinians actually go? Currently, 80 percent of Gaza is designated as a ‘red zone’—where Palestinians are prohibited from entering. Meanwhile, the western part of Gaza is already overcrowded. Thousands of people and refugees live there in makeshift tents. As a result, the Palestinians have no real choice. In the end, they will either stay, or be arrested or killed. They have only one feeling – ‘they have nothing left to lose’.
