“We are stronger now than at any time in the past.” Dr. Yunus
We are stronger now than ever before, said Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government. He made this comment at the ‘Ekushey Padak-2025’ award ceremony at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital today, Thursday.
Dr. Yunus said, ‘We are stronger, more energetic and more creative now than ever before. The dreams of our young generation are bolder than the dreams of any previous generation. Just as they want to create a new Bangladesh, they also want to create a new world with the same confidence.’
The chief advisor said, ‘Our young generation wants to lead in creating a new world. They are ready to lead. Boys are ready, girls are ready. They want to build a new civilization of their dreams by freeing themselves from the shackles of a self-destructive civilization.’
He said, ‘The main goal of this civilization will be to ensure equal rights for every person on all the resources of the world; to ensure every person has all the opportunities to dream and realize that dream; To develop the lifestyle of people in such a way that the existence of the earth is not disturbed in any way and the healthy survival of all living beings on earth is not disturbed in any way.’
Congratulating the eminent personalities of the country who were awarded the Ekushey Padak today on behalf of the countrymen, the Chief Advisor said, ‘The nation is particularly grateful for your contributions. You are the guides of the nation. Inspired by your contributions, the nation will establish itself in a continuously better position in the United Nations with firm faith.’
Dr. Yunus said, ‘Today, at this award ceremony, I deeply remember with deep respect all the brave students, workers and people who sacrificed their lives and were injured in the various struggles for the motherland, the language movement of 1952, the great liberation war of 1971 and the mass uprising of 1924.’
Dr. Yunus said that this year’s Ekushey February has come with a new significance in the changed situation of the country. Dr. Yunus further said, ‘We know that Ekushey February is an ambitious memorial of self-identity. In this month of 1952, the student community stood up to protest the unjust decision imposed by the Pakistani rulers on the issue of the state language. They established Bengali as the state language by pouring fresh blood on the streets of Dhaka. Through this language movement, an incredible awakening of our sense of freedom has been created.
He said, “Today, on this great Martyrs’ Day and the memorable day of celebrating International Mother Language Day 2025, we wish that this dream of the youth may be realized soon. I express my gratitude to those who have been recognized by the nation today for showing the way in shaping the future of the country and congratulate them again.”
