A mild cold wave is blowing in Kurigram. The intensity of the cold wind is increasing from night to morning. We have not seen the sun for the last few days. Although the sun peeks out occasionally, there is still no heat. Then after a while, the sun disappears behind the clouds. As a result, ordinary hardworking people, especially the poor people of the char area, are suffering.
Today, Thursday (January 8) morning, the lowest temperature in the district was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius. Rafiqul Islam, a local resident of Char Rawlia in Ghogadah Union of Kurigram Sadar Upazila, said, I live in a straw house where the wind blows and the wind is overwhelming during the day. It is very difficult for my wife and children. We are poor people, how will we survive in such cold?
Rickshaw puller Nurul Haque said, I cannot go out in my rickshaw in the morning. There are also few passengers. As a result, there is no income. When winter comes, the suffering of working people like us is limitless. Due to winter this year, the number of patients suffering from cold, cough, pneumonia, diarrhea and other diseases has been increasing in the hospital for the past few days.
In this regard, Kurigram Civil Surgeon Dr. Swapnan Kumar Biswas said that the number of people suffering from cold-related diseases in the district is increasing day by day. Some patients are receiving medical care in the outpatient department of the hospital. Some patients are being admitted to the hospital. Medical care is being provided with utmost importance.
Subal Chandra Sarkar, officer-in-charge of the Kurigram Rajarhat Meteorological and Agricultural Observation Center, said that the lowest temperature in the district was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius this morning. The humidity of the air is 97 percent. Abdul Matin, Relief and Housing Officer of the Kurigram District Branch, said that winter clothes are being distributed in 9 upazilas.
