We are neither BNP nor Jamaat: Hasnat Abdullah
Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) in the south, said, “Now he is showing Zarina and saying that he has to marry Sakina. We have said from the beginning that the certificate should be shown first. Then we will decide whether to sign or not. They opposed us then. If someone says that they were not shown after signing the certificate in July, then it was not like that; then why should we take responsibility for it?”
He said these things as the chief guest at a coordination meeting held at the Patuakhali District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Saturday (November 1) afternoon to expedite the party’s activities.
He also said, “The process of implementing referendum reforms should be ordered to be expedited. This order will be given by the head of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus. But many people want to take this order from Chuppu. 2000 people were martyred during Hasina’s tenure, many people were injured; now we have to go to Chuppu to get the certificate of revolution? It is better to die of hunger than this. If this order has to be taken from Chuppu, then why not from Hasina? This is an attempt to make the mass uprising controversial.’
In response to the question of who he will form an alliance with, he said, ‘We are neither BNP nor Jamaat, we are with those who will work to protect the sovereignty of the country.’
In this meeting held under the chairmanship of NCP Joint Member Secretary and Patuakhali District Chief Coordinator Advocate Zahirul Islam Musa, NCP Barisal Divisional Organizing Secretary Advocate Mujahidul Islam Shaheen, NCP Joint Chief Organizer Dr. Mahmuda Alam Mitu and NCP Joint Member Secretary Faisal Mahmud Shanto were present as special guests.
At this time, the central leaders listened to the local leaders and gave them various directions. Considerable excitement was observed among the leaders and activists of the district surrounding this coordination meeting of NCP. They reached the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium with a procession from noon.
