VP Nur calls for giving space to ordinary leaders and activists of Awami League in all parties
President of the People’s Rights Council and former VP of DUCSU, Nurul Haque Nur, has called for giving space to ordinary leaders and activists of Awami League in all parties. He said this while talking to reporters after paying homage at Santosh Bhashani’s shrine in Tangail on the occasion of the 49th death anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani on Monday afternoon (November 17).
Nurul Haque Nur said, ‘The people have rejected the Awami League through a mass uprising, but the Awami League has nationwide support. Not everyone supported the fascist system. The party did this due to the situation, but it did not oppress or torture the people of the area. I will call on all political parties including BNP-Jamaat-NCP, that we will give space to ordinary leaders and activists of Awami League who want to do politics.’
The President of the People’s Rights Council said, ‘It will not be enough to limit Bhasani to just giving flowers for one day or holding a discussion meeting at the Press Club. Maulana Bhasani was one of the leaders who initiated the formation of the Awami League, but he left the Awami League at the beginning.’
He said, ‘If the administration and the political parties do not unite, there will be no elections in the future. And if this election does not happen, then another One Eleven will be created in the country and if another War Eleven happens, then a big disaster will befall the entire countrymen, including the power of the country’s mass uprising. Therefore, we will not allow any One Eleven to happen in the future. We will not allow that evil force to raise its head.’
Noor said, ‘All political parties are now in the process of campaigning for the national elections in February.’ He requested all political parties to create an environment of equal opportunity through discussions among themselves for holding a free, fair and impartial election in the upcoming elections. At that time, Shakil Uzzaman, office secretary of the People’s Rights Council, Tofazzal Hossain, organizing secretary of the central parliament, and other leaders and activists of the district were present.
