Voting ends, counting underway
Voting has ended in the Chittagong University (CU) Central Students’ Union (CSU) and Hall Parliament elections. Voting began today, Wednesday (October 15) at 9 am and will continue till 4 pm. Voting is now underway.
Voting was conducted on ballot papers in this election. Counting is being done using the OMR (Optical Mark Reader) method. The voting will be shown live on LED screens. There are 14 LED screens for this.
The Chief Election Commissioner for the CSU elections, Professor Dr. Monir Uddin, said that the election was fair except for a few isolated complaints, including the removal of indelible ink applied on the hands. Voting took place in a festive atmosphere. 55 percent voting was recorded till 3 pm.
This time, the total number of voters in CSU is 27,517. Voting is being held in five faculties at 15 centers designated for 15 halls. Voting is being held in 689 booths in a total of 60 rooms.
According to the Election Commission, a total of 908 candidates are contesting in this year’s elections, including central and local parliaments. Of these, 415 are from 13 panels of the central parliament and independent candidates, and 493 are local and local parliament candidates.
