Van driver’s body recovered in Jessore, police suspect murder for robbery

Police have recovered the body of an autovan driver named Limon Sheikh (25) from a beel in Abhaynagar, Jessore. The body was recovered from the side of the road in Shankarpasha Farajipara beel in the upazila on Tuesday (August 12) morning. The deceased Limon is the son of Kasem Sheikh of Buikra ward of Nawapara municipality. Police said that the deceased Limon is the eldest of four brothers. He had been working as a bag carrier in a van at a sack shop in Zillur for several years. Limon went home after finishing work every day, but did not return on Monday night. In the morning, the police received information that a body was lying inside the beel in Shankarpasha Farajipara. Then, based on information from locals, the identity of the deceased was established. Later, the body was recovered and sent to Jessore General Hospital. Abdul Alim, Officer-in-Charge of Abhaynagar Police Station, said that there were no injuries on the body of the deceased. He may have been strangled to death. Since his van is not available, we assume he was killed for the purpose of robbery. At this time, he also said that the police investigation and legal action are under process.
