US sending warships to Venezuela
The United States has deployed warships near Venezuela. The news agency Reuters confirmed this information in a report on Tuesday (August 19). The report said that three destroyers with Aegis guided missile systems will reach the country’s coast within the next 36 hours. These are the USS Gravely, USS Jason Dunham and USS Sampson. In addition, several P-8 reconnaissance aircraft, an attack submarine and several conventional warships will be deployed. In total, about 4,000 naval personnel are being deployed in the southern Caribbean region. They will be able to work in international airspace and waters. These vessels can be used not only for intelligence and surveillance, but also as launching pads for specific attacks. Authorities said that such initiatives have been taken to prevent the spread of drugs. However, the Venezuelan government has not yet commented on the matter. It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump has declared war on drug cartels in Mexico and Venezuela after coming to power for his second term. The authorities claim that this decision is due to this.
