US Secretary of State’s comments: ‘UN cannot be involved in distributing relief in Gaza’

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) will not be involved in distributing relief in the besieged Gaza Strip. He said that just as Hamas will never be able to remain in power in Gaza in the future, UNRWA will not be involved in any relief operations. This information was revealed in a report by Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera.
The report said that Rubio claimed on Friday (October 24) that UNRWA has become an ally of Hamas. The report said that their position in the ruins of Gaza is very important. In a post on ‘X’, they said that according to the ruling of the International Criminal Court, there is no alternative to UNRWA in the Gaza Strip. Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, also dismissed Rubio’s allegations. He said, ‘UNRWA is definitely not associated with Hamas. They are the backbone of humanitarian operations in Gaza.
