US deports 116 more illegal immigrants from India

The United States has deported 116 more illegal immigrants to India. They were sent back on a special US Air Force plane on Saturday night. The plane landed at the Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport in Amritsar, India.

This time, 65 illegal immigrants are from Punjab province, according to the relevant authorities.

Indian media reports say that this is the second case of illegal Indian immigrants being sent back to the country from the United States. Earlier, more than a hundred Indians were sent back on a special flight in handcuffs like criminals. However, this time the deportation took place at a time when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Donald Trump just two days ago.

The report says that it was previously reported that 119 illegal immigrants would be sent back to India on a US Air Force C-17 model Globemaster plane. But later the list of 116 people was finalized for the second phase. Of these illegal immigrants, 65 are from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, eight from Gujarat, two each from Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. One each from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

According to sources, most of these illegal immigrants are in the age group of 18 to 30. Many families have gathered at the airport to receive the illegal immigrants returning to India. The authorities have handed over the immigrants to their families amid tight security.

Last week, the US deported 104 illegal Indian immigrants.
