US Ambassador Pays Courtesy Call on Road Transport Minister

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen paid a courtesy call on Road Transport and Bridges, Rail and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam. The meeting, held at the Minister’s Office at the Secretariat on Sunday (April 12), discussed various issues of mutual interest, especially the ongoing development activities of Bangladesh’s road, rail and shipping sectors and the prospects for future cooperation.
During the meeting, Road Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working relentlessly to make the country’s communication system modern, safe and sustainable. He expressed optimism about possible US investment and technical assistance in this sector.
US Ambassador Brent T. Christensen said that US cooperation will continue in road safety, modern transport system and sustainable infrastructure development. He expressed interest in strengthening mutual cooperation, increasing investment and exchanging technical knowledge to further advance Bangladesh’s communication sector. Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Department Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque was present at the event.
