Uncle beaten to death

A niece and brother-in-law in Bhanga, Faridpur, beat their uncle to death with a hockey stick. The murder took place at around 10 pm last Tuesday (September 16) in Naopara village of Ward No. 2 of Bhanga Upazila Municipality. The deceased, Afsar Sheikh, is the son of the deceased Eden Matubbar of that village. The police recovered the body and sent it to the Faridpur morgue. The wife of the deceased is preparing a case in this incident.
Police and the son of the deceased, Mehedi Hasan, said that on Sunday (September 14) afternoon, while bathing in the beel east of the house, there was a fight between the two grandsons of the deceased Afsar Sheikh, Sumon Fakir and Abir Kazi. In the wake of this incident, they came to the house that day and beat Sumon Fakir again.
At around 10 pm last Tuesday (September 16), Afsar Sheikh wanted to know about the beating from his niece and brother-in-law. At that time, the nephew and sister-in-law, along with their men, got agitated and beat Afsar to death with a hockey stick on the road in front of the house. When relatives received the news, they rescued him and took him to the Bhanga Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Bhanga Police Station OC Mohammad Ashraf Hossain told us, “We have recovered the body and sent it to the Faridpur morgue. Legal action will be taken in this regard.”
