Uncle and niece die of electrocution while removing steel cot from grave
An uncle and niece died of electrocution while removing steel cot from grave in Bakerganj, Barisal. The incident took place on Sunday night (September 7) in the Chhota Raghunathpur area of Ward No. 7 of Padrishibpur Union of the upazila. The deceased are: Sarwar Hawlader (22), son of Abul Hawlader, and Firoz Hawlader (28), son of Chandu Sikder, from the same village. Firoz worked in a private institution in Dhaka. According to family sources, Anis Hawlader (90) died of old age on Sunday. After the funeral, the body was kept in the family graveyard. Electricity was provided there for digging the grave during the burial. Later, Sarwar and Firoz were electrocuted when they came in contact with a leaking electric wire while lowering the steel cot into the grave. After the incident, they were taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared both of them dead. Barisal Bakerganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad said that permission has been given to bury the bodies as there is no complaint from the family. If necessary, action will be taken as per the law.
