Two youths die in boat capsizing while picking lotus flowers in Gazipur

Two friends died after a boat capsized in the Shapla Beel in Kapasia Upazila of Gazipur. The accident occurred in the beel of Panchua village in Tok Union of the upazila on Friday (August 1) morning. The deceased were identified as Bayezid Hossain of Mymensingh district and Mahin, son of Nur-e Alam of Tepirbari area of Sreepur upazila. Police said that on Friday morning, five friends went to the beel of Panchua village in the upazila in a boat to collect Shapla. At one stage, their boat capsized. As a result, 5 people fell into the water. Bayezid drowned on the spot and died. The other four people were rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Mahin dead. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kapasia Police Station Md. Joynal Abedin Mondal said that the bodies have been recovered. Necessary legal action will be taken in this regard.
