Two traders robbed of Tk 4 lakh by hacking on expressway
A robbery incident took place on the expressway connecting road in Shibchar, Madaripur. Robbers blocked the road with a private car and robbed Tk 4 lakh from two cattle traders. The two injured traders have been rescued and admitted to the Shibchar Upazila Health Complex. The incident took place at around 6 am today, Wednesday (November 19) on the connecting road of the Bandar Khola More area of the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway.
The injured are Rajan Molla (60) and Alauddin Dewan (67) of Panchchar area. It is learnt that the two traders were going to Tekerhat from Panchchar area of Shibchar to buy cattle. When they reached the Bandar Khola More on the Bhanga-bound lane, a private car in front stopped their car. When the pickup van stopped and tried to investigate the matter, four members of the robbers in a private car hacked and injured them. Later, they snatched Tk 4 lakh from the traders and fled.
Injured businessman Rajan Mollah said, “We were going to Tekerhat in a pickup van. Seeing a private car parked on the side of the road at the scene, we thought the car was broken down. But when we tried to investigate the matter, four robbers attacked us, stabbed us, injured us, and fled with the money.” Shibchar Police Station OC Md. Rakibul Hasan told us that the police visited the scene after receiving information. No written complaint has been received in this regard yet.
