Two killed in electrocution in Sherpur
Two more farmers died while trying to save a farmer who was electrocuted while repairing an irrigation pump’s electric wire in Nakla, Sherpur. The tragic accident occurred on Tuesday (February 17) afternoon. The deceased were Mintu Mia (45), son of Umed Ali of Puladeshi village of Baneswardi union number 5 of Nakla upazila, and Angur Mia (50), eldest son of Kubed Ali of the same village.
Another farmer named Samidul Islam (60) has been admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital with serious injuries in the incident. Confirming the truth of the incident, the duty doctor of Nakla Upazila Health Complex, Dr. Maliha Nujat, said that Mintu and Angur were brought to Nakla Hospital at 5:30 pm and were declared dead, while another named Samidul Islam was sent to Mymensingh Medical College with serious injuries.
Eyewitness Rezaul Karim Mintu said that farmer Samidul Islam was electrocuted while repairing the electric wire of his irrigation pump yesterday afternoon. Two neighboring farmers, Mintu Mia and Angur Mia, came to rescue him and were electrocuted. Locals rescued them and took them to the Nakla Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared them dead. Tariqul Islam, duty officer of Nakla Police Station, said that an investigation report has been collected into the incident of the two farmers getting electrocuted. Nakla Police Station OC Ripon Chandra Gop said that an accidental death case has been filed with Nakla Police Station regarding the incident of the two farmers getting electrocuted.
