Two buses collide head-on, 2 killed

Two people, M. Mujibur Rahman (55) and Bakul Rabidas (26), were killed in a head-on collision between two buses in Osmaninagar, Sylhet. At least 12 people from both buses were injured in the incident. The accident occurred in front of Dayamir Madrasa on the Sylhet-Dhaka highway at around 7 am today (January 17).
The deceased Mujibur Rahman is a resident of Dashai Hawladar village in Naria upazila of Shariatpur district and Bakul Rabidas is a resident of Kapankhalpar village in Dayamir UP of Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet. The injured are Mushahid (35), son of Rabi Mia of Jalalabad police station in Sylhet, Alamin (34) of Jamalganj upazila of Sunamganj, Faruk (38) of Belab police station in Narsingdi, Mehedi Hasan of the same area and 8 unidentified people.
According to police and eyewitness sources, two people were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a Sylhet-bound Shyamoli Paribahan (Dhaka Metro-B-24-4286) and a Dhaka-bound ENA Paribahan (Dhaka Metro-B-12-3560) bus in front of Dayamir Madrasa on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at around 7 am on Saturday. At least 12 people from both buses were injured. Tajpur Fire Service members and police immediately rescued the injured and sent them to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital. Osmaninagar Police Station OC Murshedul Alam Bhuiyan confirmed the accident.
