Two BRTC buses set on fire in Noakhali late at night
Mischievous persons set fire to two buses at the BRTC depot in Sonapur of Noakhali Sadar Upazila. Both buses have been burnt to ashes. Sudharam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kamrul Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday (November 4) morning. Earlier, the incident took place at the Sonapur BRTC depot in the upazila around 2:30 am on Wednesday.
According to local sources, there were 21 buses at the Sonapur BRTC depot as usual. At around 2:30 am, miscreants set fire to two buses. Local residents and two units of Maijdi Fire Station immediately reached the spot and brought the fire under control. Of these, the upper part of two buses named ‘Gulbahar’ and ‘Malti’ going to Noakhali Science and Technology University was burnt in the fire. The other was partially damaged.
Sonapur BRTC Depot Manager Md. Arifur Rahman Tushar said, “I immediately went to the scene after receiving the news. Upon receiving the news, two units of Sudharam Fire Service reached the scene and quickly brought the fire under control. However, the cause of the fire will be known after the investigation.” Sudharam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kamrul Islam told us that the police visited the scene after receiving the news. The police are still at the scene. The matter is being investigated. The cause of the fire will be known after the investigation. Nothing can be said at the moment.”
