Five such marriages have taken place in the last six years in the village of Badhana in Trans-Giri. The bride, Sunita, said, “I was aware of the tradition. I agreed to this marriage without any pressure.” NDTV says that the groom, Pradeep, works in a government job. His younger brother, Kapil, works abroad. Not under family pressure, but with the consent of the family to keep this traditional tradition alive, they both decided to marry Sunita. Pradeep said, “We are proud of our tradition. The decision was a joint decision of the three of us.” Kapil said, “Even if I am not in the country, we are together by our wife’s side – with love, stability and responsibility.” The Hatti people are a community mainly living in the border areas of Himachal and Uttarakhand.
