Two brothers gouged out brother’s eyes in front of their father
It has been alleged that two brothers together gouged out both eyes of a brother in front of their father after he demanded the return of money and gold ornaments deposited in Muladi, Barisal. The incident took place on Tuesday (August 27) night at the house of Ashed Bepari in Saheberchar village of Nazirpur union of the upazila. The victim, Ripon Bepari (36), is the eldest son of Ashed Bepari. His elder son Rokon Bepari and younger son Swapan Bepari together gouged out both his eyes. Ripon Bepari’s son Abdur Rahman said that his father demanded the return of 3.5 million taka and 20 bhori gold ornaments deposited in his father’s uncle Rokon Bepari. Because of this, they beat him up and gouged out his eyes. The second officer of Muladi police station, Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Masud, confirmed the truth of the incident. He said that due to a family dispute, the two brothers together gouged out both eyes of a person named Ripon Bepari. After the incident, local people rescued the injured Ripon and admitted him to Ashu Kathi Hospital in Gournadi. When his condition deteriorated there, doctors sent him to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. When his condition deteriorated further, he was admitted to the Dhaka National Eye Institute from there. He is currently undergoing treatment there. সSon Abdur Rahman said that his father came home from Dhaka on Tuesday. He asked his elder brother Rokon Bepari for money. But when he refused to give the money, an argument broke out between the two brothers. When Ripon returned home around 11 pm, they quarreled again. At one stage, his father Ashed Bepari got angry and beat Ripon and ordered him to gouge out his eyes. On receiving his father’s order, Rokon and Swapan beat Ripon together and gouged out both eyes and handed them over to his father. On Ripon’s screams, people from the neighboring house went to rescue him and took him to the hospital. On the other hand, Ashed Bepari, Rokon and Swapan Bepari fled the house.
