Two Bangladeshi swimmers cross the English Channel after 37 years

This time, two Bangladeshi swimmers, Mahfizur Rahman Sagar and Nazmul Haque Himel, have achieved an adventurous feat by crossing the English Channel. On Tuesday (July 29), Sagar from Pabna and Himel from Kishoreganj swam across the English Channel in 12 hours and 10 minutes. The two swimmers left Dhaka for London in the first week of July. They had booked a slot in the third week of July to cross the English Channel. The time has been postponed several times due to adverse weather conditions. Earlier, three Bangladeshi swimmers have crossed the English Channel. The first Asian swimmer to cross the English Channel was Brazen Das. He crossed the channel a total of six times between 1958 and 1961. Abdul Malek crossed the English Channel in 1965 and Mosharraf Hossain in 1987. The length of the English Channel is 350 miles (560 km).
