Turkey working for lasting peace in Gaza: Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Gaza now needs urgent reconstruction and recovery. He also said that Turkey is actively working to ensure that the Hamas-Israel agreement lays the foundation for lasting peace, Mehr news agency reported.
Erdogan made the remarks while speaking at the 5th Turkey-Africa Business and Economic Forum in Istanbul on Friday (October 17).
“We are cautious because of Israel’s past behavior, because Gaza now needs urgent reconstruction,” he said.
“Turkey is making continuous efforts to make the Hamas-Israel agreement permanent and ensure that it paves the way for lasting peace,” he added.
Also, regarding the ongoing Sudan crisis, Erdogan said that Turkey is deeply saddened by the conflict in Sudan and hopes for a ceasefire and lasting peace in the country.
He stressed, “The international community has not paid enough attention to the humanitarian disaster in Sudan, even though it is everyone’s humanitarian responsibility to stop the bloodshed.” The Turkish president added, “Sadly, the Western world sees civil wars, conflicts and disputes in Africa as the fate of the continent.”
