Tulip’s sister’s free flat has been found.

Another free flat belonging to the family of Tulip Siddique (42), a minister of the country’s ruling Labour Party, has been found in the UK capital, London. This information has emerged in a report published in the UK media The Sunday Times on Saturday.

Tulip is currently the Economic Secretary of the UK Ministry of Finance (Treasury). As a minister, she is responsible for stopping crime and corruption in the country’s financial sector. She is the daughter of Sheikh Rehana, the sister of former dictatorial Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina. According to the report in The Sunday Times, Tulip lived in a flat in Hampstead, North London, which was given to her family by an ally of her aunt Sheikh Hasina. This flat on Finchley Road in Hampstead was given free of charge to Tulip’s sister Azmina.

Tulip is also among the members of Sheikh Hasina’s family who are alleged to have taken advantage. But he has denied any wrongdoing. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said he has confidence in Tulip.

The Hampstead flat was handed over to Azmina in 2009 by Bangladeshi lawyer Moin Ghani. He represented Sheikh Hasina’s government. He is pictured with the former prime minister.

UK land registry documents state that the flat was given to Azmina without any monetary or financial value. Azmina was 18 when the flat was handed over. At the time, she was about to start studying at Oxford.

It is not clear exactly when Tulip moved into the flat. However, after being appointed as director of Tulip Working Men’s College in December 2012, he listed the flat as his address in the documents.

He used the same address after becoming a trustee of Camden Arts Centre in January 2014 and a trustee of Hampstead Wells and Campden Trust in March 2014. Her husband Christian Percy also listed it as his address until May 2016, when Tulip was the Labour MP for Hampstead and Kilburn.

Tulip’s sister Azmina has experience working at Tony Blair’s Institute for Global Change. She recently started working at a children’s charity. She sold the flat in 2021 for £650,000.

The flat’s previous owner, lawyer Moin Gani, worked for Bangladesh for several years as a consultant on international disputes. In 2021, Sheikh Hasina’s then government nominated him to serve on a World Bank panel. At the time, he said he was honoured to receive a personal letter of congratulations and thanks from Sheikh Hasina.

The Hampstead flat is different from the one near London’s King’s Cross. Tulip got the apartment near King’s Cross for free in 2004. He still owns it.

The Financial Times reported on Friday that the apartment near King’s Cross was given to Tulip for free by Abdul Motalif, a property developer who is an associate of senior members of Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party.

Tulip declined to comment on the Hampstead flat. However, a source close to her said that she had lived in her sister’s flat for a period of time, which is common for many families.
