Trump’s new plan for a ceasefire in Gaza
US President Donald Trump has presented a new plan for a ceasefire in the Palestinian Gaza Strip. The 21-point plan was presented to Arab and Muslim leaders in New York on Tuesday (September 23) local time. CNN reported. The US president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff announced this information on Wednesday. He and several senior Trump administration officials were present at Trump’s meeting with Arab leaders on Tuesday.
“Our discussions were very productive. During the meeting, President Trump’s 21-point plan for a ceasefire in Gaza was presented to Arab leaders. We believe that if this plan is implemented, on the one hand, the violence in Gaza will stop, on the other hand, the concerns of Israel and all its neighbors will be addressed.
“We hope and I am confident that we will be able to announce some progress in the next few days.”
Some points of Trump’s 21-point plan have been published in the media. Such as the immediate release of all hostages held in Gaza, a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the liberation of the Gaza administration from Hamas and Hamas influence, and the phased withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
CNN also contacted several US and Middle Eastern diplomats who attended the meeting of Arab and Muslim leaders with Trump. They said that Arab leaders supported Trump’s plan. They suggested adding a few more points. They are: an end to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, the current Maintaining the status quo in Jerusalem, ending the war in Gaza and releasing all Israeli hostages held there, allowing free access to aid into Gaza, etc.
A diplomat present at the meeting told CNN, “We had a wonderful and very productive meeting.”
Incidentally, a global conference was held at the UN headquarters last Monday to recognize Palestine as an independent and sovereign state. The main organizers of the conference were France and Saudi Arabia. In the context of that conference, Donald Trump met with Arab leaders.
