Trump’s 20-point proposal to end the war in Gaza, supported by Netanyahu
US President Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. Later, he presented a 20-point peace plan to end the war in Gaza.
Trump said, “We are very close to ending the war, we are getting closer.”
He described Monday as a “historic day for peace.” Standing next to him at the press conference, Netanyahu praised Trump and said, “I support your plan to end the war in Gaza, which is helpful in achieving our war goals.”
Trump claimed that he had heard that Hamas also wanted to agree to the initiative. However, in an interview with Al Jazeera’s Mubashir TV after the press conference, Hamas official Mahmoud Mardavi said, “They have not yet received Trump’s written peace plan for Gaza.”
Trump added, “Everyone has already accepted it, but if Hamas doesn’t agree to it, then as you know, Bibi (Netanyahu’s nickname) will have our full support for whatever you have to do.”
He added that Netanyahu has always taken a clear position against the establishment of a Palestinian state. He understands and respects that position. However, according to Trump, “what Netanyahu is doing now is very important and significant for Israel.”
He added, “Some allies have mistakenly recognized a Palestinian state, but I think they are doing it mainly because they are tired of the long-standing crisis.”
