Trump warns of tough action in Iran

US President Donald Trump is considering military action against Iran. He made this warning while talking to reporters yesterday (January 11). Several international media outlets including Reuters, CBS News, The Guardian reported this information.
The report said that the death toll in the massive anti-government protests in Iran has already reached 538. Trump made this warning when reporters asked him about the death of so many protesters yesterday.
When reporters asked if Iran had violated the border, Trump, who was on Air Force One, said, “It seems like they (Iran) started it.” He added, “We are taking this matter very seriously. The military is also watching. We are considering some very tough options. We will make a decision.”
Meanwhile, Tehran has warned of retaliatory attacks if the United States attacks Iranian territory. Iran warned the United States yesterday not to “miscalculate”, saying it would retaliate against Israel and US military bases in the Middle East in response to Washington’s attacks.
The death toll in clashes between law enforcement officers and protesters in Iran is rising. The Reuters news agency, citing the US human rights organization HRANA, said the death toll in the protests had risen to 538. Most of the dead were protesters.
However, Reuters was unable to verify the death toll. Iran has not officially released any casualty figures. The internet has been shut down in Iran since last Thursday. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has already said that “rioters” should not be allowed to destabilize society. “Protest is the people’s right,” he said. Yesterday, he said, “People should believe that we (the government) want to establish justice.”
It is worth noting that Iran is facing its largest anti-government protests since 2022. The protests, which began as a protest against inflation and economic hardship, quickly took on a political dimension. The demonstrations, which began on December 28, have now spread to most of the country. Protesters are demanding the end of the current regime. Demonstrations continue in various cities across Iran.
In recent days, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened to “intervene” in the ongoing protests in Iran. He has warned the Iranian leadership not to use force against the protesters. Trump also said on Saturday that the United States is “ready to assist” the protesters.
