Trump warns Iran not to execute protesters
The United States has issued a stern warning not to execute anti-government protesters detained in Iran. President Donald Trump said that Washington will take “very strong action” against Iran if the death penalty is carried out. Among such warnings, the US State Department has released the name of a young protester who was sentenced to death. The country’s media outlet CNN News reported this information in a report.
Meanwhile, in a post on the same day on social media X, the US State Department said that Iranian authorities are planning to execute 26-year-old protester Irfan Soltani. His execution date has been set for January 14.
The post also said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has so far arrested more than 10,600 people for demanding basic rights. Tehran is already under international pressure for human rights violations. Trump said that peaceful protests are one thing, but if the death penalty is carried out after thousands of people have been killed, the consequences for Iran will not be good.
Asked what kind of help is coming for the Iranian people, Trump indicated that the United States is considering various forms of cooperation, including economic aid. The ongoing protests in Iran, the possible death penalty and the US warning – all of this has analysts fearing that the situation will become more complicated.
