Trump wants to send Starlink to Iran, will talk to Musk
In the context of the ongoing protests in Iran, US President Donald Trump wants to send Starlink to restore internet connectivity in the country. The US president also said that he will talk to SpaceX chief Elon Musk for this.
Communication has been virtually cut off since the internet has been shut down in Iran since last Thursday (January 8). Speaking to reporters yesterday (January 11), Trump said, “If possible, we will try to turn on the internet.” He also said, “Elon is very good at this kind of thing. I will call him after I finish talking to you.”
It is worth noting that the protests in Iran began on December 28 to protest the increase in commodity prices. But they quickly turned into widespread anti-government protests. The current Iranian government accuses the United States and Israel of fueling the protests. Meanwhile, Iran has shut down almost all types of internet services since last Thursday. As a result, it has become difficult to get a real picture of the situation in the country.
