Trump threatens more powerful and deadly strikes if deal not met

US President Donald Trump said US military ships and aircraft will remain deployed around Iran. At the same time, he warned that attacks will resume if Tehran does not fully comply with the terms of the deal.
In a post on the ‘Truth’ social media platform on Wednesday (April 8), Trump said, “All US ships, aircraft and military personnel will remain in and around Iran with additional ammunition and weapons until the real deal is fully implemented.”
He added, “If for some reason it does not, which is very unlikely, then the shooting will start again and it will be bigger, stronger and more deadly than before.”
Earlier, Iran said that it would be “unreasonable” to continue negotiations for a permanent peace agreement with the US after Israel’s devastating attack on Lebanon. Hundreds of people are reported to have been killed in that attack. There are major differences between the two sides over Iran’s nuclear program. Trump claimed that Iran had agreed to stop enriching uranium.
However, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibof said that Iran would be able to continue enriching uranium under the ceasefire agreement. Trump added, “Despite all the false statements to the contrary, it was agreed long ago that there would be no nuclear weapons and that the Strait of Hormuz would be open and secure.”
